Kishan Rao Bongu

Kishan Rao Bongu, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 21, 2022.

He was born in Alwal, India on December 12, 1927. He felt blessed and so proud of his Bongu family heritage, and he genuinely adored his parents, brothers, and sisters. His memories of them, notably of his brothers Narsing Rao and Raghupath Rao, stayed with him even as the others started to fade, and when asked where he was towards the end of his life, he always said, “I am in Alwal.”

After the passing of his beloved wife Madhuramma, he dedicated his life to his three children, Manga, Sanjeev, and Chandramathi, with the loving support of his extended family. He worked hard with his late and surviving brothers to grow the contracting business developed by their late father. He had an immeasurable thirst for knowledge and growth, taking classes ranging from languages such as Japanese and German to astrophysics and golf at the local university well into his eighties. He believed in strength of body as well as mind, and he practiced yoga, took long walks, swam, and joined Zumba classes at the local YMCA, meeting and developing friendships with folks whom he encountered along the way.

He believed in discipline and commitment and was inspired by science, technology, and design.

He loved good food, good company, and a good sense of humor.

He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his beloved children, Manga, Sanjeev, and Chandramathi; his loving sons and daughter-in-law Rama Rao, Praveen, and Sangita; his six cherished grandchildren and their partners, Madhu, Swetha and Rajanikanth, Pranay and Rashmitha, Prajwal and Anjani, Karuna, and Advaith and Amy; his six beautiful great grandchildren Aanika, Pratham, Dhillon, Asha, Rian, and Reya; his adored siblings and their spouses Janardhan Rao and Sarojini, Kamala and Rama Rao, and Yashoda and Hanumanth Rao.
