Celebrating Janu
On Tuesday July 9, 2019, our beloved Janaki Avula (Janu Nair), loving wife,mother, daughter and sister passed away at age 37 at her home in Chatham Township, New Jersey.
Janu was born on Jan 9th 1982 in Kerala, India to Madhavan B Nair (Thalakulam Konnacode family and grand daughter of Rajsree Bhaskara Pillai) and Geetha Nair. She attended Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, Trivandrum before moving to New Jersey to complete her high school at West Windsor Plainsboro High School. She received her BS Computer Science and Economics from Rutgers University in 2003, and worked at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and most recently was Director at CLS Group. On August 21, 2008 she married Mahesh Avula. They have a daughter, Nishika Avula.
Janu was a very fun loving, warm, vibrant, kind hearted and an ambitious person. She was a true fighter who always saw the positive side of things and fought a brave battle with cancer for the last 4 years. She was known amongst her friends for her ‘sense of style’, was passionate about dance, and loved to travel. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on all her friends and family that got to know her, one that we shall cherish forever.
She had a distinguished career, albeit short, leading high impact projects across the financial services industry and was destined for success. It was a big part of who she was and she took immense pride in her work and forged strong relationships with all her colleagues everywhere she worked.
She is survived by her husband, Mahesh Avula and her daughter Nishika Avula, Grade 2 student at Southern Blvd Elementary School in Chatham Township; her father Madhavan B Nair, President MBN Financial Group & President FOKANA(Federation of Kerala associations in North America;& Canada); her mother Geetha Nair, homemaker; her brother Bhaskar Nair & sister-in law Anamika Nair of Chatham, NJ; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
